Celebrating International Women's Day đ
Happy International Womenâs Day, Poptropicans! Every year, March 8th represents a day dedicated to celebrating women and their contributions to the world. And celebrate we shall!
Â
Here are just a few famous female role models you might find interesting:
Â
- Harriet Tubman: Harriet Tubman was an incredible leader in the United Statesâ abolitionist movement. After escaping slavery, Tubman is responsible for freeing hundreds of slaves via the Underground Railroad and taking on the roles of spy, nurse, and the first female military leader in the US. Â
Â
- Ruth Bader Ginsburg: Ruth Bader Ginsburg was the second woman (and first Jewish woman) to serve on the US Supreme Court. She dedicated much of her career to advocating for womenâs rights and gender equality. Â
Â
- Helen Keller: Helen Keller, a deaf and blind woman, was a fierce and determined advocate in the disability rights and womenâs suffragette movements. Kellerâs accomplishments changed the way many perceived people with disabilities and
Â
- Katherine Johnson: Katherine Johnson was an African American scientist at NASA, famous for her crucial role in researching the math and physics behind space travel. In fact, the book and movie, Hidden Figures, highlighted Johnsonâs accomplishments! Â
Â
Not only is International Womenâs Day important for recognizing female achievement and empowering others, but itâs also another chance to think about the inequities of the past, present, and future. For example, the UN Women organization welcomes the world in supporting this yearâs theme, âGender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow.âÂ
Â
Hereâs to another International Womenâs Day! Who are your female role models? Is there someone you think others should know about? How do they inspire you? Share some of the famous women you look up to in the comments! â¨
Oh yeah, I do have a role model who I look up to.

Same! Though if I was in the sports world, I would choose Katie Ledecky, a Olympic swimmer.

Now, I know this isn't related to the post, but just so you know, it seems like a lot of Poptropicans are asking for the old islands. Why not just give them what they want? You still have the original code for the islands. You brought them back for a little bit. Why not just bring them all back!? I want the old islands! There are like 2 islands on the map and they are all well, boring! And the animation of the Poptropicans is weird. Wrong, even. I am speaking for all of Poptropica. Give. Them. What. They. Want. If you don't, new players aren't going to get to see what true Poptropica is. Bring back everything.

THANK YOU SO MUCH! TOOK THE WORDS RIGHT OUT OF MY MOUTH!!
Look, I want the old islands back itâs as much as you do, but the poptropica team is working their butts off trying to convert from flash. And on top of that they have to do the monthly costume contest AND store updates AND they have to keep everything interesting! Thatâs a lot on their plates. Just give them some grace alright? People say poptropica sucks, (which is complete lies) beg them to bring the islands back, and say they ruined poptropica. Thatâs just rude almost EVERY POST! give them a break. Also, the animation looks like it did on flash IT LOOKS FINE.
The team is trying. Give them a chance
_ Maroon Fox đŚ
I do agree with you, Maroon Fox, but at the same time they've made two new islands without saying anything about working on converting old ones from flash. Maybe they made them quickly so that we have something to do while we wait, and that's why the new islands were so easy? But then they're making the whole new thing on Roblox, which I don't even play, and I feel like it's a waste of time to a lot of people. I do also agree with you that the animation looks fine though!
maya angelou (civil rights activist, poet), sylvia plath (poet/writer), sylvia rivera (drag performer/lgbt rights activist), stormĂŠ delarverie (drag king/stonewall figure), sappho (ancient greek poet), mary shelley (author/feminist), sally ride (astronaut)
If I had a role model, that would be my sister, Happy Noodle. All the things I like now are because of her. SISTERS RULE!!! SO DO GIRLS!!
